Recognizing the importance of these issues, the governing body of the American Physical Society announced its position on Climate Change on November 18, 2007. "APS is reaffirming its policy on global warming because an article at odds with the official APS position recently appeared in an online newsletter of the APS Forum on Physics and Society, one of 39 units of APS. This newsletter is not a scientific journal of the APS, and it is not peer reviewed.

FPL Group Lowers Greenhouse Gas Emissions Through Energy Management
Florida Power & Light Company, one of the country's largest electric utilities, has successfully reduced its carbon emissions through effective use of energy management programs. FPL, with 4.5 million customers in Florida, is a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc., which yesterday announced a $2.4 billion investment package to promote clean electric power from new solar energy facilities and other renewable sources, and encourage greater energy conservation.
